It’s a Jeep thing, you wouldn’t understand! A Wisconsin man was fueled by confidence from his Wrangler and drugs, so he thought he could drive across the Rock River. But he began to sink and police officers saved him before he drowned.

Drunk Wisconsin man nearly drowns while driving Jeep in the Rock River

A 42-year-old Jeep owner is lucky to be alive after nearly drowning in his SUV. Beloit police officers responded to reports of an SUV that drove into Rock River around 1:40 AM. The incident occurred at Liberty Avenue.

When the police officers arrived, they realized that the Jeep was about 40 yards in water. They didn’t waste any time as they immediately dropped their gear and jumped in the river.

Time was of the essence because the SUV was clearly sinking with the driver trapped inside. The driver managed to break the window on the driver’s side door. Then one of the police officers pulled him out of the Wrangler.

Both officers helped get the man back to shore. According to WIFR, the man was charged with operating while intoxicated (OWL) and it was his first offense.

The report didn’t share what the man was intoxicated with. But if I had to guess, alcohol is usually a source of liquid courage. Drinking combined with the off-roading confidence of owning a Jeep Wrangler can be a deadly combination.

However, perhaps the man was on narcotics and didn’t realize he had run off the road. Either way, he owes his life to the police officers who saved his life. They got to him seconds before the situation may have gotten much worse.
