Indiana Lt. Governor purchases $88k luxury SUV with taxpayer dollars
While critics are stunned by the decision to buy an $88k luxury SUV, Indiana Governor, Micah Beckwith, has already rationalized his decision. Sure, he got a 2025 Chevy Tahoe High Country SUV with taxpayer dollars.
However, as he acknowledged the purchase during a press release he also shared that he cut $164,025 from the office’s 2025 $4.1 million budget, so, the savings cover the cost of a new Tahoe for him and his family to enjoy.
According to the Indy Star, Micah and his team needed it. The previous SUV they were using was in multiple accidents and had mechanical issues. I wonder who was responsible for causing the accidents.
Beckwith shared that there is wasteful spending left over from the previous administration. Fiscal responsibility isn’t just about the numbers, it’s about ensuring every dollar serves the people effectively.
He continued to explain that by cutting unnecessary spending, they can ensure taxpayer funds are going to essential services to Hoosiers. So, driving around in a luxury SUV must be essential to the taxpayers of Indiana.
Others think that the purchase is irresponsible, and think that the SUV should be sold. Senator Blake Doriot shared that there should be more oversight on purchases made by state officials. He drives a Subaru and an 11-year-old pickup truck.
