Only one mid-size truck faces declining sales
The mid-size truck that’s facing a rampant sales decline is the Jeep Gladiator. This is surprising because the new Ford Ranger and Toyota Tacoma both had slow starts to the year.
During the third quarter of 2023, the Gladiator sold 14,202 trucks. But during the third quarter of 2024, it only sold 9,192 units. This represents a 35.28% sales decrease.
Year to date in 2023, the Gladiator sold 41,528 trucks. But it has only moved 32,670 units during the same period this year for a year-over-year decrease of 21.33%.

Even the GMC Canyon has increasing sales. It moved 7,672 trucks during Q3 of 2023, and 10,121 trucks during Q3 of 2024. During the first three quarters of 2023 it sold 19,351 trucks. It has sold 26,956 so far this year for a 39.30% sales increase.

The Toyota Tacoma sold 40,705 trucks during the third quarter of 2023. It sold 57,368 models in the third quarter of 2024 for a 40.94% increase.
Also, it moved 179,681 models during the first three quarters of last year. It has moved 126,805 trucks so far this year. This is a 29.43 sales decline, but production catching up and sales increasing. It could finish the year extremely strong.
The Ford Ranger moved 7,385 trucks in Q3 of 2023. Then it sold 15,504 models in Q3 of 2024 for a 109.94% sales increase.
It moved 31,305 trucks during the first three quarters of 2023 and 30,679 in the same period this year for a 2.62% sales increase. Unlike the Gladiator, this mid-size truck should finish the year strong.
